DPCC Does Well in General Election! The Dems in Chaves County worked hard and did very well in the Nov. 7th General Election! Numerous judicial candidates won, the Governor took Chaves County, and even though our House Rep. positions didn't win, they worked hard and really gave the GOP a run for their money! The races were extremely close which shows the DPCC is alive and KICKING! Great job candidates and winners! DPCC Kicks it Up at SENM State Fair! The DPCC had a very successful fair booth and float in the SENM State Fair this year! Numerous voters were registered. The float looked awesome and we got out lots of great information on our candidates! See the pics below!
DPCC Pinata Fest Booth a Big Success! The DPCC had a booth this past weekend at the annual Piñata Fest. Thanks to the hardworking volunteers, the booth was a great success! Nearly 30 people were registered to vote, many contacts were made, volunteers were recruited, and Democratic Party items were sold. Thanks to everyone who helped make the Piñata Fest booth possible! The DPCC would be NOTHING without its volunteers. Pictures coming soon! DPCC Holds Rally in Response to Cheney's Visit On August 15th, Vice President Dick Cheney was in Roswell for a GOP fundraiser. The DPCC held a rally in response to VP Cheney's visit. Over 50 Democrats were in attendance including candidates, party members, elected officials and others. There were even some "Democrats in the making" there. Candidates spoke about issues important to the Democratic Party, such as health care, education, the National Debt, and Social Security. Ellen Wedum, District 59 Candidate even gave a lesson on our National Debt and how it continues to grow! See the pictures below for the great turnout!

On July 28th, the DPCC held an union luncheon at Pepper's Grill. Numerous union leaders and members were in attendance along with many local and state candidates. Union leaders introduced themselves and candidates spoke discussing the issues they intend to address after elected and how they hope to make a difference in our communities and New Mexico as a whole. The luncheon was a great opportunity for union leaders and members to make connections with candidates in an effort to maintain long-term working relationships.
Democratic Rally and Cookout Begins Countdown to Election! On Friday, July 28th the DPCC hosted a rally at Cahoon Park! Even though we hit a few snags with the rain in the morning and permits etc. with the city, the rally went off without a hitch! Our SENM Coordinator from the DPNM, Angela Chavez and DPNM Representative Dave Anderson brought down door hangers with Democratic information. Candidates passed out literature, handed out signs, and spoke to rally attendees with their message for making the future of New Mexico better. Senator Tim Jennings was in attendance and spoke to the crowd about the great things the Democratic Party does for people in our country. Many volunteers brought food, helped set-up and sell button and t-shirts, while others passed out literature and helped clean-up when it was all over. "Soy Mariachi" led by long-time local and loyal DEM, Mr. Bobby Villegas, played music for the attendees listening pleasure. They were AWESOME! Additionally, Kristine Trujillo, Commissioner Michael Trujillo's daughter, sang the National Anthem beautifully and the DPCC was grateful to have her there. The rally was great and the DPCC is so appreciative of everyone who helped and attended. 100 days and counting we will take back Chaves County! June 7th, County Commissioner Michael Trujillo Honored On Wednesday, June 7th, County Commissioner Michael Trujillo-on leave for just two weeks-was honored at a luncheon at the Elk's Lodge by the DPCC for his service in Iraq over the last year. The mayor pro tem, Steve Henderson, presented the Commissioner with a key to the city and declared June 7th Michael Trujillo Day. Other local veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan were also honored. Commissioner Trujillo's family has longed served the Roswell Community, not only in the Democratic Party, but in other ways, as well. The Trujillo Family owns El Charro Mexican Foods, which has been providing great food and service to Roswell since 1947. The Trujillo family legacy is strong in Chaves County and his service to our country is greatly appreciated. Here in Roswell, Commissioner Trujillo has a wife and three children who are again waiting anxiously for the Commissioner to make yet another safe return in November. We greatly appreciate Commissioner Trujillo's service to our community and country. We, too, look forward to his speedy and safe return.
