Melissa Jones Witt has spent the last 17 years in the Roswell area. Raised in a military household, the daughter of a Army 1st SGT, Melissa moved around a bit when she was young. She was born in Colombia, SC and moved to Germany shortly thereafter. When she was 4, she and her family moved to Albuquerque, and at age of 11, they relocated to Roswell so her father could teach JROTC and New Mexico Military Institute. Melissa's mother, a career nurse, also worked at NMMI in the infirmary. Melissa graduated from Dexter High School and then went on to New Mexico State University for her undergraduate degree. While teaching at Roswell High School, Melissa earned her Master's Degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Melissa taught at Roswell High School for 5 years and now teaches at New Mexico Military Institute. Melissa values Roswell and is very active in the community. While teaching at RHS, Melissa sponsored Student Council and helped with a number of community service projects. Additionally, she is the member of Roswell Community League and serves on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern New Mexico Board of Directors. Melissa is also actively involved in her church, First Presbyterian of Roswell, where she teaches Sunday School to high school youth. Melissa's husband, Doug Jones Witt, a local attorney, is also a life-long Roswell resident. The Jones Witt's are grateful to be members of the Roswell community and feel strongly about the truth and values that encompass the Democratic Party.
